Invariant manifolds near hyperbolic fixed points
In these notes we discuss obstructions to the existence of local invariant manifolds in some smoothness class, near hyperbolic fixed points of diffeomorphisms. We present an elementary construction for continuously differentiable invariant manifolds, that are not necessarily normally hyperbolic, near attracting fixed points. The analogous theory for invariant manifolds near hyperbolic equilbria...
متن کاملOn projectively equivalent metrics near points of bifurcation
Let Riemannian metrics g and ḡ on a connected manifold Mn have the same geodesics (considered as unparameterized curves). Suppose the eigenvalues of one metric with respect to the other are all different at a point. Then, by the famous Levi-Civita’s Theorem, the metrics have a certain standard form near the point. Our main result is a generalization of Levi-Civita’s Theorem for the points where...
متن کاملOn the Regularity of a Free Boundary Near Contact Points With a Fixed Boundary
We investigate the regularity of a free boundary near contact points with a fixed boundary, with C boundary data, for an obstacle-like free boundary problem. We will show that under certain assumptions on the solution, and the boundary function, the free boundary is uniformly C up to the fixed boundary. We will also construct some examples of irregular free boundaries.

In the upper half of the unit ball B = {|x | < 1, x1 > 0}, let u and (a domain in R+ = {x ∈ R n : x1 > 0} ) solve the following overdetermined problem: 1u = χ in B , u = |∇u| = 0 in B \, u = 0 on 5 ∩ B, where B is the unit ball with center at the origin, χ denotes the characteristic function of , 5 = {x1 = 0}, n ≥ 2, and the equation is satisfied in the sense of distributions. We show (am...
متن کاملBad boundary behavior in star invariant subspaces I
We discuss the boundary behavior of functions in star invariant subspaces (BH2)⊥, where B is a Blaschke product. Extending some results of Ahern and Clark, we are particularly interested in the growth rates of functions at points of the spectrum of B where B does not admit a derivative in the sense of Carathéodory.
